This paper sets out be a critical review the concept of homosociability, initially developed by Eve K. Sedwick in 1985, which in light of feminism, gender studies, Queer studies and field of masculinity studies has an important relevance. It has to do with a key underlying aspect of the contemporary debates and reflections regarding the role of masculinities in gender relations, which is understood by gender relations that also involves relations between bio-men, men or male individuals. The way we understand relationships between men is vital to comprehend the possibility of an alternative masculinity. The use of the concept of homosociability has, util today, taken a limited path, so returning to the initial conceptualization is important to clear certain muddle regarding it´s conceptual use. It is intended to point out, based on the author's deliberation in her text, two shortcomings in the use of this concept: first, that in its contemporary use homosociability seems only referred to heterosexual men and, second, that it implies mechanical reproduction of hegemonic masculinity.
