Abstract

The gender policies carried out by public universities, both in Spain and in Europe, continue to show generic biases in the highest categories of academic and professional careers, both in management and leadership positions in research. This shows that these policies have not originally contemplated the need to deconstruct androcentric and patriarchal inertias that are preventing real and effective equality between men and women. To this end, we have taken the University of Jaén as a microanalysis laboratory, based on both the direction and implementation of the gender policies that have been carried out in this institution and the coordination with the Equality Units of the Spanish public universities. The results analyzed have allowed us to identify these inertias and, as a second aspect, to propose actions that should be included in equality plans to overcome imbalances and progressively move towards gender balance in university institutions
